Peninsula Cluster Meeting
Sunday, May 4, 7:00 pm
Los Gatos Fellowship
15980 Blossom Hill Road, Los Gatos
In the fall of 2007, I went to the UU Pacific Central District’s Leadership Day. Representatives of several Peninsula churches were there. We met each other and exchanged ideas about a large range of topics. Lynn Ewing, membership chair, and I were there.

The outcome of this meeting was to form the Peninsula Cluster Group. We enjoy a lively exchange of information via a mail server. We share ideas about pledge drives, volunteer coordinating, and many other topics. This ensures that we can benefit from each other’s experiences as we go forward as congregations.

The next meeting of the peninsula cluster group is May 4. I will be going and I invite others to commute with me to the meeting. Please call me if you wish to go!

The Goddess Circle, normally held at Sacred Paths Bookstore, will be held at UUSM for a few months while the bookstore goes through some business expansion.
The voice of the Divine Feminine is re-emerging in human consciousness, bringing us a new vision of the sacredness and unity of life. Join us as we learn about and celebrate a different Goddess, all of whom are manifestations of the Sacred Feminine. On May 9, we will discuss Tara, a Tibetan Buddhist Goddess and bodhisattva, who chose to reincarnate to assist in the spiritual awakening of all beings.
For more information, call Joy Reichard at 415-819-8769.

Spring Volunteer Work Weekend
Friday, May 9-Sunday, May 11
Camp 2 of the Mendocino Woodland
Share in the joy of working together to support one of the most wonderful camps anywhere! The annual Volunteer Weekend requires a donation of about seven hours of work on Saturday to help prepare the three camps for the summer season. The work includes setting up tents and cots, sweeping floors, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, as well as special outdoor projects assigned by the Woodlands Staff. We welcome people of all ages and abilities.

The remainder of the time may be spent visiting with new and old friends in the beautiful redwood forest, hiking, or sunbathing at Lillie’s river beach. There will be singing and games in the evening in our cozy dining hall. There is no electricity or heat in the cabins, but you will find fireplaces at each end of our dining hall. Bathrooms with electricity are located in the shower house.

This camp site is not accessible to handicapped persons. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. For info or to register, go to www.unitariancamps.org.

New UUSM Book Group
Sunday, May 18, 12:30 pm

By the time you read this, the Book Group will have met on April 20 and selected the books that we will read the rest of 2008. We want to read both fiction and non-fiction so that we can share and enhance our reading experiences, as well as build friendships and provide intellectual stimulation. Book discussions will be led by the individuals who suggested the book. The discussion leader will do background research on the author and the book and develop (or get from the web) discussion questions.
In addition to the books that we read together, we will share suggestions for other books that participants have enjoyed. Reeba Lynn will give us tips for researching books and authors on the web.
We will hold our brown-bag meetings on the third Sunday of each month at 12:30 pm (after the second service). If you are interested, please contact Anne Silver at annehsilver@yahoo.com or 650-592-1363.
